Hadrian’s Wall Bus, Service AD122 This unique service has been specially developed to help you get around Hadrian’s Wall more easily and enjoyably. Running the full length of the wall from Wallsend to Bowness-on-Solway, with a more frequent service to the main sites in the central section, it includes special features such as on-board heritage guides and cycle carrying facilities. In 2006 the AD122 runs daily from 27th May until 1st October, then Sundays only until 29th October.
More Details Bus guides: Knowledgeable local guides from Open Book Guiding services travel on the bus to help you find out more about what you are seeing outside the window of the bus and what you will see when you alight from the bus. Travel on the bus on 28th and 29th May and Sundays and Mondays during July and August. See timetable for details of which journey they travel on. Accessibility: The service that travels the full length of the wall from Wallsend to Bowness on Solway is operated by a low floor vehicle with kneeling capacity with space for one wheelchair. Unfortunately the bus drivers and guides are not able to help lift or push wheelchairs onto the bus, although they are all trained in disability awareness and will do whatever they can. Carers of disabled passengers travel free on the AD122 service (one per registered disabled passenger). Booking is not required but will ensure there is a space. Contact

. The other services are not operated by low floor vehicles, although we are trying to raise fund to allow this. They are operated by buses with grab rails and relatively low step heights (ie not coaches) for those with limited mobility. We are working on bus stops to ensure they have suitable tarmac and ramps for easy access. The following spots meet DDA standards: Wallsend, Newcastle Central Station, Corbridge Roman Site, Hexham Railway Station and Tourist Information Centre, Chesters Roman Fort, Tower Tye, Brocolitia, Once Brewed, Haltwhistle Railway Station and Carlisle English St. For more details contact
