Matfen Hall is a magnificent  privately owned  country house hotel set in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside close to Hadrians  Wall yet only twelve miles from Newcastle upon Tyne  England. Sir Hugh and Lady Blackett have carefully restored their family seat into one of the North East s leading venues for weddings  conferences  golf and leisure breaks.

Our fantastic new Spa  Leisure complex is now open  along with a brand new state of the art conference room and extra  luxurious bedrooms. Each of Matfen Halls 53 bedrooms has their own charm and character combining modern facilities with traditional opulence.All rooms are en suite  with satellite TV  direct dial telephone and all the amenities you would expect. Our Premier and Executive rooms are particularly spacious with seating areas and luxurious bathrooms. Four Poster bedrooms are also available for that extra special occasion.

Exquisitely furnished with book or print lined walls  our Library and Print Room Restaurant is much more than a hotel restaurant. For those who are serious about their food it is a genuine fine dining experience. Under the direction of our Head Chef  the Library and Print Room Restaurant offers the finest contemporary English cuisine using the best local ingredients. The superbly innovative menu changes with the seasons  ensuring freshness of produce throughout the year. The A L Carte menu is superbly innovative  as is the Table d Hote menu which changes daily. 

For larger parties the Great Hall makes a magnificent private dining venue. Take it easy on Sundays with a relaxing leisurely drive to Matfen Hall and a traditional Sunday Lunch in the Library and Print Room Restaurant. Complete your day with a stroll around the Hall s grounds and a visit to Matfen Village or Corbridge where many of the delightful shops and boutiques are open to peruse at your leisure.
