Wallington Hall is a popular attraction with both visitors and residents of the North East of England and is one of the most stunning country houses in Northumberland. With over 13,000 acres of farmland this is the largest of all National Trust estates and has a variety of country estate walks within its boundaries. The Northumberland village of Cambo falls within the boundaries of Wallington Hall Estate.
The country house, woods, grounds and gardens are a great day out for families. Wallington Hall boasts a superb Pre-Raphaelite Central Hall and is the ideal way to learn about the history of Northumbria. The famous dolls house and Cabinet of Curiosities are popular with visitors of all ages. Recently the Main Staircase Hall and Central Hall have been restored and are a sight not to miss. The 3 mile river walk, and 7 mile Wannie Line walk are two firm favourites and are ideal places from which to experience the beauty and solitude of the Northumbrian countryside. For the less confident walker, the East Woods and West Woods offer a less challenging routes but are equally beautiful thanks to the Wallington Ponds that boast wildfowl and wildlife. Wallington Hall boasts a lovely Walled Garden that was created in the 1920’s. In summer and autumn the garden is afeat for the senses with colour and fragrance to complement the soothing sounds of water within this garden paradise. Families can experience the delights of Wallington Hall for a mere £20 which is great value for a day out considering the Adventure Playground, Wildlife Hide, Farm Shop and Tearoom make for an entertaining day out deep in the heart of rural Northumberland. | | |
